Traveling to Rome was an experience... to get to Italy, I flew from Des Moines to Atlanta, then Atlanta to Italy, arriving in Italy on Thursday the 15th. On the flight to Italy, I was sat next to the sweetest Italian lady. Her name was Sylvia, she spoke little English but told me about how she had been visiting her son in Dallas, Texas. (It was her first time in America) After trying to communicate with her for a little bit I fell asleep and slept for the majority of the flight. When I woke up, she informed me I missed breakfast, so she tracked down a flight attendant and made sure I got fed, it was very sweet. After I ate breakfast the view out of my window was incredible, we were flying over the Swiss Alps. At the end of our flight when we were getting off the plane the flight attendant told me Sylvia had asked for a coffee when I was asleep, the flight attendant tried to turn the light on Sylvia told her no because I was sleeping. 🫂 She wished me well on my travels and I was on my way to customs. At the airport we had a driver pick us up and bring us to the apartments we were staying at. I have 8 roommates in my apartment, sharing a room with 2 of them.

When we arrived at the apartment, we brought all of our stuff upstairs and started unpacking, as we were unpacking, we heard a knock on the door. Surprise! Happy Birthday Brittan! Still so confused but the maintenance man brought me a birthday cake with a card. (My birthday is June 15th) We made sure the cake did not belong to anyone else and then indulged. The cake was delicious.

That night we walked around the neighborhood a little bit and got pizza at a place called "Alice's Pizza" as well as some gelato for dinner. The next couple of days we had a lot of orientation meetings: we walked around the neighborhood where our school is and toured the studio as well. My favorite part of the school is that is it a 15 min walk from both the Colosseum and the Pantheon, and a 20 min walk to the Trevi Fountain. More to come soon... but for now arrivederci!
